General terms and conditions of the Alpin Center Zermatt

Fundamental principles

The Alpin Center Zermatt (AC) is an agency. For tours booked in our offices, we supply mountain guides, mountain guide candidates and hike leaders (from here on the term "mountain guide" applies to all 3 titles). The responsibility for the tour lies with the guide appointed for the occasion.

Registration

It is important to register as early as possible.  For 1-2-day tours, registration can be accepted at short notice, i.e. at the latest on the day before the start of the tour. However, participation following registration at short notice cannot be guaranteed.

For tours lasting 3 days or more and big groups, the registration will only be taken into consideration after advance payment.

Prices and obligations

The prices are for one person and include the fees for the guide and commissions. Group prices are valid only when the minimum number of participants takes part. Any additional services are listed separately. The costs of transport, overnight stays, food, etc., for both guest and guide are chargeable to the guest. The official peak tariffs (excl. commission), are to be found in the special tariff regulations of the Alpin Center.
Payment is to be made before setting out on the tour.

Insurance

Each guest must have a sickness and accident insurance, as well as repatriation insurance. We also recommend insurance to cover the cost of cancellation.

Tour cancellation, breaking off or modification

The AC takes the decision to cancel a tour because of an insufficient number of participants, or because of unfavourable weather conditions. No costs are involved for the guest, should the tour be cancelled by the AC.
Only the mountain guide responsible can take the decision to break off a tour or to modify it. Where a tour is broken off, the costs to the guest will be fixed in relation to the length of the tour carried out. For tours with overnight stay, the official mountain hut tariff serves as the basis for calculating the charges. Should a tour be modified, the extra costs involved are to be paid by the participant.

Cancellation conditions

For 1-2-day tours, there is no charge to the guest, providing the cancellation is made at the latest 2 days before the start of the tour. Any cancellation after this time, or should the guest fail to turn up for the tour, the corresponding cost of the tour must be paid in full by the guest.

In the case of premature cancellation of a tour lasting several days, the following costs are involved:

  • cancellation 30 - 11 days before the beginning of the tour: 50% of the cost of the tour;
  • cancellation 10 -  0 days before the beginning of the tour: 100% of the cost of the tour.

Should the tour be broken off prematurely, or should the guide have to break it off because of insufficient physical or mental ability of the guest, no refund will be made. Any extra costs will be charged to the guest.

Complaints

Complaints must be made on the spot to the responsible mountain guide, so that an immediate solution can be found. Complaints made after the event cannot be taken into consideration. Complaints addressed to the AC must be done so in writing.

Responsibility

The mountain guide cannot guarantee absolute security in the case of objective dangers in the mountains. The guest must take into account the natural risks of mountain climbing, which are always there in spite of careful and prudent guiding.

Gift vouchers

We will gladly issue a gift voucher for all your offers or for an amount of money. After choosing your gift voucher, please complete the order process. Once your order has been processed you will receive a confirmation email. The voucher is exclusively designed. We will send you the selected gift voucher to the billing address by post. Also, enclosed within the package, you will find the invoice.

The bill must be paid within 7 days of receiving the gift voucher. The gift voucher can only be redeemed if the bill is fully paid. Each gift voucher is valid for a maximum of three years from the date of issue.

The gift voucher cannot be exchanged for cash. The Alpin Center as the provider of the gift voucher is not obliged to pay out a residual amount, but it will issue a new gift voucher for the residual amount. The gift voucher can be given away and it can also be exchanged for another offer of the same value. A possible markup due to an alteration in prices will have to be paid by the client when redeeming the gift voucher .

Protection of privacy

Personal and financial information collected on this site is used for the sole purpose of processing and delivering your order. All the data will be deleted after the redemption of the gift voucher. Your data will not be circulated in any way. The Alpin Center accepts no responsibility for the loss, theft, or destruction of a gift voucher.

In case of dispute Swiss courts only have jurisdiction. The court of jurisdiction is in Visp in the Canton of Valais.
